Promoting civil discourse on pressing issues of the day across the North Shore
We are excited to announce our latest book selection in time for you to read over the summer, so join us and register early for NSCC's next book club discussion in August!
We will be reading "Last Branch Standing: A Potentially Surprising, Sometimes Witty Journey Inside Today's Supreme Court" by Sarah Isgur.
With the latest slew of controversial Supreme Court decisions, there is no better time to learn more about the workings of the Court and the underlying philosophies of the Justices.
We are fortunate to have Judge Raymond J. McKoski (retired) joining us to facilitate the discussion. Since retiring in 2010 as a Lake County trial court judge, Ray has served as an adjunct professor at the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law. Ray has authored numerous essays on the ethical responsibilities of lawyers and judges, serving on many judicial ethics committees. His award winning book, "David Davis, Abraham Lincoln's Favorite Judge", was published last year.
We will meet at The Gallery in Lake Forest.
Registration is limited and available to club members and their guests only. Drinks, appetizers and dessert will be served.
NSCC members who purchase the book from the Lake Forest Book Store or The Book Stall in Winnetka will receive a 15% discount.
For the Lake Forest Book store, just mention the North Shore Civic Club when you check out.
