We are excited to announce our latest book selection in time for you to read over the upcoming Spring break, so join us and register early for NSCC's next  book club discussion in April!

We will be reading "Separation of Church and Hate: A Sane Person's Guide to Taking Back the Bible from Fundamentalists, Fascists and Flock-Fleecing Frauds by John Fugelsang.

We are fortunate to have Reverend Dr. Keck Mowry joining us to facilitate the discussion. Keck holds a Doctor of Ministry from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, along with degrees from Drew University, the University of Chicago, and Vanderbilt University. He is currently Paster at Grace United Methodist Church in Lake Bluff.

In this informative, perspective-shifting book, Fugelsang takes readers through common fundamentalist arguments on abortion, immigration, LGBTQ rights, and more—exposing their hypocrisy and inaccuracy through scripture, common sense, and deeply inappropriate humor. It offers practical tips on how to debate your loved one, coworker, or neighbor on the issues that divide us using that Bible they claim to follow.

We will meet at a North Shore location which will be disclosed to all registrants closer to the date.

Registration is limited and available to club members and their guests only.  Drinks, appetizers and dessert will be served.

NSCC members who purchase the book from the Lake Forest Book Store or The Book Stall in Winnetka will receive a 15% discount.

For the Lake Forest Book store, just mention the North Shore Civic Club when you check out.

For The Book Stall, it may be more convenient to order online for instore pickup. Use this coupon code (which only works with this one item in the cart):
